Terms of Service
Updated 9 October 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Backbeam ("the App"), a Shopify application operated by Vendkit ("we", "us"). By installing or using the App, you ("the merchant") agree to these Terms.
1. The service
Backbeam shows a "notify me when available" button on out-of-stock products, lets shoppers opt in to be told when an item returns, and sends them an email (or an SMS on the Pro plan) when it is restocked. Features and design may change over time as the App improves.
2. Plans and billing
- The App offers a free plan and a paid Pro plan ($14.99/month, with a 7-day free trial; the current price is always shown in the App before you subscribe).
- All billing is handled by Shopify Billing. Charges appear on your Shopify invoice. We never see or store your card details.
- You can downgrade or cancel at any time by changing your plan or uninstalling the App. Shopify's proration and refund rules apply.
3. Acceptable use & shopper messaging
You agree not to misuse the App, attempt to break or overload it, reverse-engineer it, or use it to violate any law or Shopify's terms.
Because the App sends messages to your shoppers, you agree to use it only to contact shoppers who have genuinely opted in through the App's sign-up form, and to comply with all applicable anti-spam and privacy laws (such as CAN-SPAM, CASL, GDPR and the TCPA for SMS). You must not upload or import contacts who did not opt in through the App. You are responsible for the accuracy of your store's business details, including the physical address shown in the email footer as required by anti-spam law.
4. Data and privacy
Our handling of data is described in our Privacy Policy. You are the data controller for your store's data; we act as a data processor on your instructions. Backbeam is built to comply with GDPR (EU), UK GDPR & PECR (UK), CCPA/CPRA and CAN-SPAM (US), and CASL (Canada). The Data Processing Addendum in section 11 forms part of these Terms.
5. Availability
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee the App will be uninterrupted or error-free. The App is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost profits or lost sales, arising from your use of the App. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the App in the three months before the claim.
7. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate access if these Terms are breached. On uninstall, your data is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.
8. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time; the "last updated" date will change. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India.

11. Data Processing Addendum
This addendum applies where we process personal data on your behalf, including under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and other US state privacy laws, PIPEDA/CASL and similar laws. By installing or using the App you enter into it with us.
- Roles. You are the controller (or "business"); we are your processor (or "service provider").
- Subject matter and purpose. Sending the back-in-stock alerts your shoppers request, managing their unsubscribes, and measuring the sales those alerts lead to.
- Data and data subjects. Shoppers who sign up for an alert: email address, phone number (only for SMS on Pro), optional name (Pro), the product requested, consent time and alert status; for revenue matching, new orders' email, order ID and matching items' value. Your staff's Shopify session details.
- Duration. For as long as the App is installed, plus the deletion periods in the Privacy Policy.
- Instructions. We process personal data only to provide the App and on your documented instructions (these Terms and your App settings). We never sell or share it, or use it for advertising, profiling or our own purposes.
- Confidentiality and security. Access is limited to people who need it and are bound by confidentiality. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest, access is protected by strong authentication, and production data is not used for testing.
- Sub-processors. You authorise the sub-processors listed in the Privacy Policy. We will update that list before adding a new one, and you may object by uninstalling the App.
- Assistance. We help you respond to data subject requests (including through Shopify's privacy webhooks and the unsubscribe link in every message) and with security or compliance questions.
- Breaches. We will notify you without undue delay, and within 72 hours, after becoming aware of a personal data breach affecting your data.
- Deletion. When the App is uninstalled, or on Shopify's shop-redact request, we delete your store's data as described in the Privacy Policy.
- Transfers. Data may be processed in the United States and other countries where our sub-processors operate. Where the law requires it, transfers rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum), which are incorporated by reference.
- Information and audits. On reasonable request we will provide the information needed to show compliance with this addendum.
